County Champions
Three-Time Dragon Boat Champions
2021 • 2022 • 2023 — a story of teamwork, determination, and triumph on the water

In the Bell Boat
Without a dragon boat of their own, the crew trained in Neptune's bell boat — heavier and bigger, making every session harder. Months of race starts and long, high-paced runs built the endurance and paddle synchronisation needed to compete.

Train Hard, Race Easy
The bell boat demanded more from every stroke, forging timing under pressure. When race day arrived, the lighter dragon boat felt effortless — the hard yards were already done.

The Race
The starting horn sounds. Paddles hit the water in perfect rhythm. Neck-and-neck with rivals, the Neptune crew digs deeper, pushes harder, and races as one.

Three-Time Champions
County Dragon Boat Champions three years running — 2021, 2022, and 2023. Training, teamwork, and determination delivered a hat-trick of victories for Neptune.

Land Activities & Adventures
Scouting is about trying exciting things together — camps in wild places, skills that actually matter, nights under canvas, and adventures you'll talk about for years

Lake District
Bank Holiday Adventure
Four days, three adventures
How we spent the long weekend

Mountain Days
Multiple days on the Lakeland fells — navigating ridgelines, summiting peaks, and earning views of Windermere that you can only get on foot. Real mountain navigation with map and compass, in all conditions.

Waterfall Walk
A day exploring Ambleside — wandering the fells above the town before descending through ancient woodland to Stock Ghyll Force. One scout found their way straight into the stream.

Via Ferrata & Mine Tour
The final day: climbing fixed ropes on the Via Ferrata deep inside the Honister Slate Mine — the only underground Via Ferrata in England — followed by a hard-hat tour of the vast cavern system, lit with colour.
Every week, all year
What We Get Up To

Camps & Expeditions
Weekends away under canvas — from local sites in Berkshire to epic adventure camps in the Lake District, Dartmoor, and beyond. Everything a scout camp should be.

Fire & Camp Cooking
Cooking breakfast over a wood fire at a woodland camp, grilling on the barbecue at the boathouse, or experimenting with camp stoves — food tastes better outdoors.

Skills Nights
Thursday evenings at the boathouse: cooking sessions, art and painting, craft projects, and hands-on challenges. Skills that mix fun with things you can actually use.

Night Challenges
Night nav exercises, obstacle courses after dark, and wide games with only a head torch. Challenging, slightly chaotic, and always memorable.

Winter Hikes
Cold mornings, muddy boots, and miles of Berkshire countryside — winter hiking builds genuine resilience and the kind of navigation skills that matter when weather turns.

Arts & Creativity
Watercolour painting sessions, outdoor art at the boathouse, and craft evenings. Not just for the artistic — everyone has a go, and the results are always worth putting up.
